As the popularity of our four super Swedes finally waines, I find there are some REAL bargains to be had on Ebay.com for us avid collectors.
Please be careful when buying autographs. The only ones you know to be “REAL” are the ones you get
personally. Always ask if there is an official certificate of authenticity with the item.
BOOTLEGS were at one time hard to find but now with home CD copiers
, they have been renamed “FAN CD’S” It was ALWAYS
hard to find true bootlegs with real Abba rarities so be careful when you buy. REMEMBER BOOTLEG AND FAN CD’S ARE ILLEGAL AND THERE WILL BE NO MONEY BACK GUARANTEE WITH
THEM
I notice that there are a lot of so called “Remix” albums on there too. Please be advised that the only “OFFICIAL”
remixes ever sanctioned by Polar and Abba were the following and they all appeared on “VINYL ONLY” (with the exception of the recently released Voulez Vous Atlantic remix on the double CD The Definitive Collection).
1. Voulez Vous (Atlantic USA)
2. The Visitors/Lay All Your Love On Me (Epic UK)
ANY remix albums you bid on will no doubt be home made CD-r compilations so please do not
expect true silver shop bought CD-s.
The Mixes however are EXCELLENT DANCE FLOOR FILLERS and in this day and age, will last a lifetime.
To my knowledge,(and believe me I know what I am talking about when it comes to Abba)
The first were the Anniversary Remix Album series, made to celebrate the 25th
year anniversary of Abba winning Eurovision. These had no overdubs and were true Abba tracks. These were true silver CD’s and well worth having in any collection.
The second were the 6 Reunion series. These were all remixed Abba tracks
either in their original speed with Dance overdubs or totally speeded up to match the mood of the day. Again these were original true silver CD’s when released.
Since both sets came on the market they have been copied over and over again (a bootleg of a bootleg if you like),
so be very wary when bidding. Always ASK the seller !!!!!!!!!
I also notice a lot of Fan CD-s stating to be true LIVE
recordings of concerts. Believe me I am a sucker for bootlegs, and have everyone available.
In my opinion, don’t waste your money on anything other than the Paris 1979 concert recording. It is a fan recorded
cd, but the quality compared to the others is far superior, and it is ABBA as they were on that day.
Remember the home recording technology in the 70’s was mainly transistorised
and therefore the quality of the recording will be “tinny and hollow” and in some cases inaudible. By 1979 things had improved tremendously, but alas Abba failed to make another tour (apart from Japan in 1980) where someone recorded them from the audience.
Stick with Paris 1979
BE VERY WARY OF SELLERS WITH NO FEEDBACK
- THEY MAY ADVERTISE ITEMS AT INCREDIBLY LOW PRICES, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY IT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK WETHER OR NOT TO SEND PAYMENT.
I HAVE HEARD OF PEOPLE WORLDWIDE SENDING HUNDREDS OF POUNDS AND DOLLARS ONLY TO RECEIVE NOTHING BY RETURN - I AM NOT SAYING THAT THOSE WITH NO FEEDBACK ARE ALL ALIKE, THERE ARE A LOT OF
GENUINE PEOPLE OUT THERE IN CYBERSPACE, JUST USE YOUR COMMON SENSE.
IF IN DOUBT DO NOT BID........
