ABBA GOLD DVD
The only country in the world brave enough to put this out on DVD was of course Japan. The colour quality however is not great. This DVD is available on Mail Order from HMV
in Hong Kong and Singapore. However, my advice is stick to the video.

ABBA 1974 - 1982 VCD
The Manufactured under licence in Malasia. A direct copy of the VHS video of the same title. Has no interviews at all, but gives a running text
commentary throughout. Includes the full unedited version of Waterloo in Brighton in 1974. Worth it just for this footage alone.

ABBA GOLD VCD /CDi
Manufactured in Germany for the Phillips CDi system, although will play on any DVD player or PC with MPEG 1 capabilities. Great for capturing stills

MORE ABBA GOLD VCD / CDi
The Like it’s predecessor above, made for the CDi market, which never really took off. DVD put a stop to that, but still a worthy collectable item
nonetheless.

ABBA GOLD DVD
JAPAN AND BRAZIL ONLY RELEASE
Only released in Japan until 2001 when Brazil dared to release it.
The Japanese version was slightly blurred and muffled, while the Brazilian copy made usr of the Forever Gold soundtrack and upgraded the sound to dolby 5.1
Forget the Japanese version and buy the Brazilian one instead.
The Brazilian DVD is available on eBAY USA site and is of great quality, but I hope you understand Portugese to operate it.
However, my advice is that it’s the best I’ve seen and far outstrips the Japanese release.

FINALLY
SOMETHING TO LOOK AT
2002 Universal released the CD and DVD called The Definitive Collection.
The DVD release contained every Promotional video Abba made (with the exception of Honey Honey) Including the Spanish ones.
Fans went wild for this DVD collection and it hit number 1 on many worldwide charts.

2003 and yet another ABBA revival throughout the UK.
Universal FINALLY release ABBA GOLD DVD set.
This went to number 1 immediately upon release and did extremely well in other territories.
As well as 19 full and unedited promotional video’s it included the 1992 video version of Dancing Queen as well as a 30 minute documentary called Abba The History. This is
mainly an interview with Bjorn (again) who talks candidly about the revival, as well as promoting the musical Mamma Mia.
Nothing special, but at least something new to add to Abba collections.
