ABBA - Behind The Blonde
22:00 - 23:05, Tuesday 24th May on Channel 4 UK.
The programme is made by North One Television. Channel 4's website has the
following information about the programme:
The untold story of mega-selling pop group ABBA and their most iconic, enigmatic
member, Agnetha Fältskog - 'the blonde one'. Behind the glamorous image and perfect pop which has sold over 350 million records across the world, lies a darker
tale: Agnetha's escalating nightmare of phobias, near-fatal accidents, personal tragedy, isolation - and a truly shocking two-year relationship with a stalker who
speaks on TV for the first time in this documentary. The programme also features the first UK showing of Agnetha's comeback TV interview after nearly two decades in seclusion.
The TVTimes magazine selects the programme as a 'Pick Of The Day' but adds that the Gert van der Graaf footage is "quite distasteful" and that he appears to
be "a few songs short of the full album".

Abba's Millions First Broadcast: Sunday 22nd August 8pm BBC TV - UK
They came, they sang, they conquered. For a brief time in the seventies and early eighties Abba were the super troupers of pop. From rural Swedish beginnings to the biggest outdoor dates of the
time - Rhodri Owen discovers just how much Money, Money, Money they made.
Liquid Assets talks to those who played with the Abba members, before their big Waterloo moment; to the UK
Eurovision judge who admits to giving Abba an embarrassing 'nil point'; and to Chocolat director Lasse Hallstrom who exposes some of the cheap tricks they
used in those infamously cheesy Abba videos. Rhodri also works out how much of the Mamma Mia musical takings of £½bn, has ended up in the band's pockets.

Worldwide Volume 30
This is a UK pop programme called Top-of-the-Pops2. It usually features
an assortment of acts that have appared on the show over the years, but this was a one-off special concentrating on ABBA.It features many of the
groups videos and also exclusive TV appearances at the time of "Thank You For The Music", "Waterloo" and "Mama Mia". Also TV appearances of
"Erasure-Take A Chance On Me", Brotherhood Of Man-Angelo"and "Elaine Page & Barbara Dickson-I Know Him So Well" The best thing about the
programme though is that it is introduced by Bjorn, and he gives comments all the way through such as "Why thy used the word Glasgow in Super Trouper,
Why they started making videos,How they go about writing a song for a musical and how they nearly chose Hasta Manana as the Eurovision entry.
He recalls being on T.O.T.P. on 8-4-74 and how they had to re-record Waterloo with the BBC orchestra in only 1 hour! He also tells of being
flattered at being copied by Brotherhood Of Man, and how he would wear anything on stage between 1974 and 1975 including a blue satin jump suit
and cape.He also talks of how important T.O.T.P was to the record sales. There are ABBA facts during the videos and all in all is a great little
programme. It runs for about 40 minutes and has been split into 2 halves. A great buy for any ABBA fan.

Abba, the biggest selling name of the 70’s had a remarkable
run of chart topping hits from 1974 to 1981 which has assured them a place in pop history. The groups uncanny ability to create melodic masterpieces has
only been equalled possibly by the Beatles, whilst their earlier mastery of the promotional video form was unequalled during their years as the most popular group in the world.
ABBA THE VIDEO BIOGRAPHY collects together the video clips which brought Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny and Anni-Frid from local celebrity to international stardom, whilst also reflecting
the destructive effect which public stardom can exert on private relationships. ABBA remain the only act from a country where English is
not the native tongue to have dominated the world of popular music, and their appeal to all age groups of every nationality is all the more unique because of the language barrier.
While it seems unlikely that another non English speaking act will ever approach Abba’s achievements, ABBA THE VIDEO BIOGRAPHY preserves their magic for future generations. Polar Music Press Release 27th April 1981 Right now ABBA are working in the TV-studio here in Stockholm
doing a 52-minutes special with Dick Cavett, the well-known American interviewer and entertainer. This special will be shown all over Scandinavia middle of September, and many countries will
of course follow. The programme is produced by Swedish TV together with Polar Music International AB, and the sales are handled by Swedish TV.
Before ABBA started their rehearsals for this TV-show (they will perform 4-5 songs live) they worked in the recording studio and have so far
finished three songs for their new LP. The songs are called: "WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE" / "SLIPPING THROUGH MY FINGERS" / "TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE".
Two of these songs will be included in the TV-show. However, we have decided not to release any single for the time being but prefer to wait until the next studio session is over.
ABBA will continue working in the studio in May, and we hope to have some more songs ready by middle of June. At that time we will pick a new single.

·Worldwide Volume 54
Music for UNICEF Concert
The event was broadcast on NBC in the United States. The Music for UNICEF Concert: A Gift of Song
was a benefit concert of popular music held in the United Nations General Assembly in New York City on January 9, 1979. It was intended to raise money for UNICEF world hunger programs and to
mark the beginning of the International Year of the Child. The concert was videotaped and broadcast the following day on NBC in the U.S. and around the
world. The moderator was David Frost, with Gilda Radner and Henry Winkler also introducing some of the performers. Henry Fonda made a short appearance.
Each performer signed a large parchment declaring support for UNICEF's goals. The concert was the idea of impresario Robert Stigwood, the Bee Gees, and David Frost, who originally
conceived it as an annual event. Not all of the performances were truly live, with ABBA lip-synching their new song "Chiquitita”, which itself alone raised
over one million dollars for the UNICEF cause.
Performers The Music for UNICEF Concert featured some of the biggest names in pop music at the time,
and the performers donated their performance royalties and those from one song each to UNICEF. However, some artists released the royalties for only a limited time. Most of the songs performed
were not specifically about the issue of child poverty. Elton John was scheduled to perform but did not appear. A recording of the concert was released on an LP
on Polydor Records several weeks later, with the performances in a different running order. ABBA — "Chiquitita" Bee Gees — "Too Much Heaven"
Andy Gibb— "I Go For You" Andy Gibb and Olivia Newton-John — "Rest Your Love On Me" Olivia Newton-John — "The Key"
John Denver — "Rhymes & Reasons" Earth, Wind & Fire — "September" Rita Coolidge and Kris Kristofferson — "Fallen Angels"
Rod Stewart — "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" Donna Summer — "Mimi's Song"
There were also opening and closing songs, performed by all participants:
Opening medley, ending with part of ABBA's "He is Your Brother" Closing song: Jackie DeShannon's "Put A Little Love In Your Heart"

·Worldwide Volume 55 The X Factor Includes performance of Mamma Mia and Dancing Queen from
the current cast of the stage show “MAMMA MIA” As well as the very very very bad TV advertisment to promote ABBA Number 1’s CD
ABBA legend Bjorn Ulvaeus agreed to guest judge for music mogul Simon Cowell's UK talent show
The X Factor. The Swedish songwriter had been invited by the American Idol judge to appear
towards the end of the ITV series next month. "This is a major coup for us. To get one of the guys who wrote ABBA's hits to be involved in our show is just amazing."
X Factor judges Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne have admitted that the ABBA themed live X Factor live show this Saturday will make for possibly an awkward show as they imagine how the
contestants may fare with the hits of the legendary Swedish band. The show which will feature ABBA band member, Björn Ulvaeus has Simon Cowell saying: "It is going to be a car crash. It should
be very funny." Sharon Osbourne said: "Yuck! I don't think anyone can perform ABBA songs apart
from ABBA." Louis Walsh, the other X Factor judge suggested on The Xtra Factor that his act, the MacDonald Brothers could perform ABBA's 'Fernando'.
This week, the acts have a huge challenge - how do you follow one of the most successful groups in the world, who’ve had 22 number 1s and sold over 370million records?
Nikitta: Dancing Queen Lou said: The song was too big for you Shaz said: Trouble with your pitching tonight, and you should have thrown more of yourself into it
Si said: You were out of tune - and you shouldn’t have changed the song
Eton Road: Does Your Mother Know? Lou said: I’m really really proud of Eton Road tonight
Shaz said: I love you, it was as camp as Christmas, but you took the song and made it your own Si said: As camp as a row of tents, but it was a million percent better than last week
Robert: Take a Chance on Me Lou said: Liked what you did with the song - you’re a natural performer Shaz said: You nailed it
Si said: Great week last week.. you didn’t tonight. It sounded out of date - like Billy Ocean
Leona: Chiquitita
Lou said: This was a bit like Mariah Carey singing an Abba song.. but you could be the first girl to win the X Factor
Shaz said: You need to watch the vibrato, there’s no need to go into it so often. Also, avoid the Christina lip wobbling
Si said: You’ve come out of your shell: this was the best performance so far this evening
MacDonald Brothers: Fernando Lou said: Your harmonies were spot on
Shaz said: You’ve taken so much stick from Simon and me.. but you’ve never been in the bottom two, so I’m just going to hand you over to Simon
Si said: You can not, in a billion years, win this competition. It was at best a mediocre version of Fernando
Ray: Waterloo
Louis said: This show is called X Factor - not Swing Factor. You’re just a one trick pony Sharon said: I love what you do, its your thing
Simon said: I’ve got to give you top marks - it wasn’t the best vocal we’ve heard, but you have to stick to what you do best, you took the risk
Ben: S.O.S
Lou said: You pulled it off because you’re so talented Shaz said: At the beginning you were slightly off key, but you pulled it back and made it your own
Si said: I hated it. It fell into a soft rock area, I hated the arrangement, it was very 1980s Meatloaf
Ashley: The Winner Takes it All
Lou said: I feel you’ve got more to give, but there was no conviction. You need to get better to stay in.
Shaz said: You are not good in the lower register - this song was a disservice from your mentor Si said: Compared to a lot of the performances this week, that was excellent. You have star quality
